Dr. Toop
Staff optometrist Dr. James Toop examines patients' eyes to determine their ability to focus light (refraction test), as well as calculating which corrective lenses will yield the sharpest vision for his patients. He has practiced in Seattle since 1987, improving sight for tens of thousands of people. He was one of just two optometrists recognized by Seattle Metropolitan magazine in its "Top Doctors" issue.
Dr. Toop expertly fits soft and hard contact lenses for all refractive errors, including large degrees of astigmatism (in which the clear cornea curves abnormally). He can diagnose conditions such as glaucoma and cataracts, nearsightedness
(myopia) and farsightedness (hyperopia), and he has experience fitting contact lenses therapeutically for patients with unusual eye diseases.
He examines children age five and older, and always treats his patients with the utmost courtesy and respect.
Additional optometry services are available at the UW Neighborhood Clinics at Belltown. For more information, call 206.744.3937 (EYES).
